About

Brooke Elliott is a student in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before enrolling at UNC, Brooke served as the Executive Online Editor of the historic Tiger newspaper at Little Rock Central High School.

Brooke’s passion for writing began early, when she worried her kindergarten teacher with dramatic tales of orphans escaping their bandit kidnappers. At age 14, she began entering her work into the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, winning multiple National Gold and National Silver awards over four years for her prose and poetry.

Brooke has won multiple awards for her playwriting on the national and local level. Her play Among the Pearls was a winner in the ACANSA 10-Minute Play competition, and her documentary film Fixing the Ford was screened in the AETN Student Selects Showcase by Arkansas PBS. Her original musical, Strings, for which she wrote the book, was performed at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in their summer showcase. She has over twelve years of experience as a stage performer and currently acts as a member of the Chapel Hill Players’ junior INCs team.
